Operational excellence in manufacturing is meeting the client specifications in the order given to the delight of the client. It includes quality of the product, ease of delivery, inflexibility of delivery, speed of delivery, communication associated with the delivery, instructions related to use of the product. As far as client is concerned, price is part of the order. As regards the association, cost is part of functional excellence. Functional excellence will make cost minimum in relative terms (in comparison to challengers) and give the competitive advantage through further gains and cash overflows that can be reinvested to grow the business through product advancements and process advancements and installations expansion.
